Elegant sophisticated yarn bowl
A Few Leaves and Yarn
A Few Leaves and Yarn

A Few Leaves and Yarn ©

Knitters are savvy people. They embrace art and the creative process. Thus, I challenged myself to come up with a sophisticated bowl that brings beauty as well as function.
Of course, being the nature lover that I am….it had to have leaves.
Enjoy for yourself – or give to that someone who makes YOU beautifully knit art! They will love you for it!

• About the process:

Each piece is a one-of-a-kind wheel-thrown clay creation. After being shaped on the potter’s wheel, the piece is allowed to semi-dry to what is called the leather-hard stage.
Once it reaches this “half dry” state the piece is able to be shaped, carved and textured. Once completely dry – or ‘bone dry’ it is placed in an electric kiln for a ‘bisque firing’ which takes many, many hours reaching a temp of approximately 1800 degrees. After the piece has completed this bisque process, it is cooled, stained with oxides or stains, burnished if necessary, and glazed. The final process of high firing at a temp of approximately 2200 degrees transforms the piece from a ‘bisque’ to a ‘stoneware’. It is now more durable, able to hold water, and is food safe if ‘glazed’ on the interior for food use.

Because each vessel is an original and is impossible to duplicated, we package very carefully for shipment.
Each piece is either wrapped with expandable foam or is carefully placed among air bags and peanuts – whichever is most appropriate for the size and structure.
For your piece of mind, we insure every piece we ship.
