A Mindful Life
Living fully - Carving a life
What we encounter
We, in America, have lived on this land for two hundred and fifty years….reflectively speaking. Many lived here before us, with a very different frame of existence. And this is what I was forced to reckon with—again, while in Scotland.
Changing the furnace filter
As a mom…..woman…..partner…..we get this feeling of being ‘needed’ ALL the time. (We sometimes wish we could even relinquish that need just a titch!!!)
Walking our life path
I believe we are in a time of ‘rediscovering’ who we are.Being re-introduced to a more full and rich being, if you will.
Our Masculinity
We are birthing a new world…whether we are in it or not—is up to us. And as we contemplate and consider this thought, it is imperative to be inclusive of both the feminine and masculine energies in each of us.
The Fiber that Surrounds Us
During this pause, I found myself compelled to make blankets just like my grandmother taught me to do. Sewing pieces together, and then tying the layered pieces of cotton, wool, and more cotton, together to make a warm blanket.
Are we writing our own story?
Two hawks are flying overhead, circling and riding on the wind. As a deep thinker, I ask myself…Who has control over our human experience?
The nest we build.
This last April, I was honored to work with people with physical challenges due to Parkinson’s. We built nests. And what an amazing experience.
Consciousness, Curiosity, Healing and Integration. A new evolution…
The lessons I have learned of late run very deep. And it is a reminder of how very important it is, to be ever present in our consciousness.
Paying homage
For many families, this time of year offers a family journey to the place of burial, of loved family members, as they are remembered.
Herstory-Dia de Muertes
The rituals of Dia De Muertes are sacred invitations to the spirits of the deceased, to know that they are being honored, celebrated, and that the portal of connection is opened on these particular feast days. This is their way of honoring their loved ones.
In between the spaces
The feeling of basking….and then experiencing intensity and discomfort…yet knowing that indeed…it will—we will—move on.
Herstory or History
I am learning. I must acknowledge the history and herstory that was before me, in order for the trauma that has been carried in my genes, to be released.
What is self-care?
Do you know how to distinguish between self-care and selfish actions? When I want to uncover my own intentions of choices, I finding myself asking the following questions.
Taking Care of Self
Do words or topics just keep popping up in your life? Like billboard messages…saying “Pay Attention!”.
My words this week are: self-enrichment, self-sacrifice, selfish, and self-care aka self-love.
I surrender
Surrender:
Just that act —of being willing. Changes the trajectory of life.
This blew my mind. And I see the power of that act of willingness.
Guts and hearts
What makes for a joy-filled heart? Is it material things? Is it sharing or feeling love? Is it enjoying time with our children? Is it being respected? Is it spending time with our partner? Our loved ones?
A healthy heart is a happy heart
Who do I take care of? Them? Or Me? Let’s define that a bit.
I learned that taking care of my needs was life-changing for me when I was in my mid-30’s. Kind of an early-life crisis. Finding myself steeped in adulthood with childhood issues—while raising children. Everything helps everything.
