A Colorful Life Lidded Vessel ©

Bands of color on shoulder Slips of Blue, Teal, Gold and Washed Terracota, Black wash.
A beautifully earthy vessel that is a must to hold. Organic. Tactile. Real.

• Free shipping – includes handling, double-walled 270# box with secure packaging, insurance, and ground shipment fees.
• About the process:

Each piece is a one-of-a-kind wheel-thrown clay creation. After being shaped on the potter’s wheel, the piece is allowed to semi-dry to what is called the leather-hard stage. Once it reaches this “half dry” state the piece is able to be shaped, carved and textured. Once completely dry – or ‘bone dry’ it is placed in an electric kiln for a ‘bisque firing’ which takes many, many hours reaching a temp of approximately 1800 degrees. After the piece has completed this bisque process, it is cooled, stained with oxides or stains, burnished if necessary, and glazed. The final process of high firing at a temp of approximately 2200 degrees transforms the piece from a ‘bisque’ to a ‘stoneware’.

A Walk on the Beach ©

A moonlit walk along the coast–kelp was everywhere on the beach. How mesmerizing nature is! I took home a piece and studied it, and as in all of nature, was influenced by its beauty and its design.
Inside of this vessel, at the neck, is a leather gallery. This ensures a good fit with this style lid. As this vessel is a great example of how a ‘vase’ can be used to hold nature–while you are living with exuberance, or filling it with memories inside–as a lidded vessel. Later, it can be specified to hold your ashes when you pass, if you so choose.

Note: This piece is designed to be free standing without a lid if you so choose. However because of the way the rim was created, and the finite fit of the lid – after firing, there is a matching leather ‘gallery’ that was attached for when using as a lidded and secure vessel.

• Free shipping – includes handling, double-walled 270# box with secure packaging, insurance, and ground shipment fees.
